Brain Injury

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 1.7 people in the U.S. suffer traumatic brain injuries each year. Some of those injuries are defined as “mild” (concussions, for example), but even those may lead to serious long-term consequences for the injured victim. Other brain injuries are severe enough to cause death or severe life-long impairment. The CDC describes traumatic brain injury as a “serious public health problem” in our country.

Brain injuries are caused by blows or sudden shaking of the head, or by objects that penetrate through to the brain. According to the CDC, falls are the primary cause of traumatic brain injury in the U.S.. Falls may occur as a result of slip-and-fall or trip-and-fall incidents, or in a variety of other circumstances, including nursing home neglect or abuse. Traumatic brain injuries may also result from car accidents, motorcycle accidents, or tractor-trailer accidents, from medical malpractice such as surgical errors, or from the use of defective products (for example, defective motorcycle or bicycle helmets).

If you or someone you love suffered a serious brain injury in Blount County or elsewhere in Tennessee, you should contact an experienced Tennessee personal injury attorney as soon as possible. You may be able to recover compensation for your medical bills (both past and future), your pain and suffering, your lost wages, and for other types of harm that you may be facing (such as the loss of ability to enjoy various activities as you used to, emotional distress, etc.) An attorney with experience in handling complex brain injury cases would be able to assess and pursue every possible source of compensation. An experienced attorney would also gather evidence in order to prove the full extent of your injuries, and draw on extensive knowledge of similar cases in negotiating with insurance companies and, if necessary, arguing in court on your behalf.

A long-time resident of Blount County, attorney Mark C. Hartsoe is dedicated to helping his injured clients recover the financial compensation that will allow them to begin to move past their trauma and maximize their quality of life. Over more than two decades in practice, he has achieved successful outcomes in a wide variety of cases—most of them through negotiated settlements that allowed his clients to avoid the stress and expense of litigation.

He has also represented many families who were seeking compensation for the wrongful death of a loved one.

He will gladly meet with prospective clients at their convenience, during evenings as well as weekends, whether at his Blount County or Knoxville offices or in the clients’ own homes or hospital rooms.

Mark: We would like to thank you for all the hard work you put in winning our medical malpractice lawsuit. The money we were awarded will certainly change our lives. The fact that you never treated us like clients but instead like friends meant so much to us. Again from our hearts we say thank you. Client

The Peroulas family and I deeply appreciate your help and expertise. Although I am certain that it would have been most enjoyable to work with you on the trial, my clients are happy with what they and I believe to be a very favorable settlement, thanks in large part to your guidance. We appreciate the great job that you did on our case. You watched out for our interest even before you took our case. Mark Hartsoe did a wonderful job. He showed great expertise as he went up against a multi-national corporation with multiple lawyers. He had a thorough understanding of the many details and events that occurred. We were especially impressed with his skill during mediation. Mark’s PowerPoint presentation was excellent, overwhelming the opposition. It was refreshing to work with someone who does what he says he will and truly had our best interest in mind. Thank you for everything. Dennis and Julie Greene

We would very much appreciate it if you would be so kind as to e-mail to our office the Powerpoint presentation that you made at the commencement of the mediation. Our General Manger was very impressed and would like to show it to the CEO and may in turn show it to other corporate personnel as an example of what can happen to the same or similar case when placed in the hands of an excellent lawyer such as Mark Hartsoe.
